Individual therapy
I treat adolescents and adults. People come to therapy for help in a variety of areas. Some of the areas I treat are:
eating disorders
substance abuse
depression
anxiety
relationship difficulties
major life transitions
stress
grief
body image
parenting
trauma
Therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length. In our first few sessions I will get a sense of your strengths and struggles so that we can create tangible goals. Typically we will meet weekly. I provide individual therapy on a short term (4-12 sessions) to long term basis depending on your goals and preferences.
Family therapy
Families that seek out family therapy are often looking for help in better understanding and communicating with one another. Family therapy can be helpful if parents are feeling unsuccessful in setting rules and expectations, are concerned about their child’s risky behaviors (like substance abuse), or are going through life transitions (like loss of a parent or divorce). Often when families start family therapy everyone in the family has a different goal and varying levels of motivation to be in therapy - that is totally fine and a great place to start!
Family therapy sessions include an initial 90 minute session and then weekly or biweekly 50 minute sessions. The frequency of our sessions depends on the family’s preferences, level of functioning and goals.
Family Based therapy
I provide family based therapy (FBT), also called Maudsley Method, and am currently pursuing FBT certification. FBT is an evidence based model that utilizes family members to support their loved ones recovery.
